You may have noticed that more and more people seem to now use e-cigarettes or vapes – in fact around 2.9 million adults in Great Britain currently use one.

Lots of people find e-cigarettes helpful to reduce smoking and some people use them to help them stop altogether.

Public Health England believe that smoking an e-cigarette carries much less risk than continuing to smoke tobacco.

We know that e-cigarettes do not produce tar or carbon monoxide and these are 2 of the main toxins in cigarette smoke.

E-cigarettes aren’t completely risk free though. The vapour from e-cigarettes has been found to contain some potentially harmful chemicals also found in cigarette smoke, but at much lower levels.

At the moment there are no e-cigarettes on the market that are licensed as medicines - which means they’re not available on prescription from the NHS.

Live Life Better Derbyshire is an e-cigarette friendly stop smoking service.

If you decide to buy your own e-cigarette our Live Life Better team will still be able to support you.

Although we can’t advise you on what e cigarette to use or how to use it, our advisors can offer lots of advice and support to help you to become completely tobacco free.

If you want to use Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) in combination with an e-cigarette then we can provide you with NRT free of charge.

When you register for our support you’ll be allocated your own health improvement advisor.

They'll work with you and tailor support specifically to you and your lifestyle.

Your advisor will help you identify your existing habits around smoking and how to break them.

They will provide you with lots of advice as well as providing you with encouragement to keep you going and lots of reassurance.

We’ll boost your motivation each time we see you by carrying out a carbon monoxide reading. This will show you the health benefits you are getting from quitting.
