I am reformed! That’s the proud refrain of one Darley Dale ex-smoker.
Marc Fox aged 56, smoked for 45 years before finding out about our free stop smoking service through his GP.
He was suffering from smoking related health conditions including COPD and needed to use inhalers too.
Marc said:
“Since my partner died, it’s been hard but since my doctor told me to stop smoking.
“I did, and I have turned my life inside out and made major changes - stopped drinking, move more, walk more and eat healthier. I feel a lot happier now after a really hard time.”
He adds that all the changes he’s made have been noticeable.
“People have noticed that my breathing is better. I look better and people are commenting on it. This makes me feel really good.
“I am walking more and eating better and am in no doubt that life has changed for the better since quitting smoking. My anxiety is improving and am enjoying getting out and about and being sociable.”

Marc added:
“I would say that I have an addictive personality but if I can do it, anyone can. When you put your mind to it, you can do anything you want.
“I would absolutely recommend the service. I needed that help, the push to do it and the service worked. I’ve not had alcohol for last five years, and stopped smoking.
“Put your mind to it and it can be done. I am living proof you can make the change. I haven’t looked back.
“I can’t stand smokers around me - the smell makes me feel sick. ! am reformed!
“To think I was putting that rubbish in my body! I feel very proud of myself and I don’t give myself enough credit.”
