Our Healthy Workplaces Derbyshire team have been working with Chesterfield Borough Council to help improve the health of their staff.
We’ve delivered health MOTs, wellbeing advice and drop-in sessions to a wide range of council staff from office workers to housing repairs staff.
Wendy Blunt is a Health and Wellbeing Officer at Chesterfield Borough Council
Wendy said:
“We’ve had a few health MOTs delivered in the past and I knew how staff here at the council really benefitted from having the MOTs done.
“It makes our staff feel really valued and it has shown us how important it is to value an employee’s health and their needs.
“The support we have received from the advisors has been excellent.”
Healthy Workplaces Derbyshire held workplace sessions in several different locations for the council’s staff and they were all fully accessible.
Healthy Workplaces Derbyshire can offer health MOTs to your employees that check their blood pressure, cholesterol levels and BMI.
Plus they can signpost and support your employees to quit smoking, manage their weight and get more active.
Here’s what some of the council staff had to say about the health and wellbeing support that they have received:
"I found it very helpful, especially the blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol tests, as it can be difficult to get into the doctors for these things or fit them around work."
"I found it very useful, and I was given a deeper understanding of my own health with tips to help me."
"The guys were friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel at ease during the whole appointment."
"I found it very useful , they picked up I had a few issues including high blood pressure and high cholesterol, they reported it through to my doctors and I’m now on medication for both so really pleased I went."
"I found this extremely helpful. I used to go to a well woman clinic at my surgery, but they’ve not done it for years, so I hadn’t had things like cholesterol and blood pressure checked for a long time. They were so friendly and explained everything clearly – I was very impressed."
